Do you remember when you first brought your child home from the hospital? Do you remember carrying him into your home for the first time? My guess is that you entered your home with a multitude of emotions. New parents can identify with the feelings of joy, awe, responsibility, and insecurity.

While it is 100% normal to have feelings of inadequacy, know this: God chose you to be the parent of your child. He knows everything about you. He knows what motivates you. He knows what drives you crazy. He knows the immeasurable capacity you have to love. But the best part is that He doesn’t just make you a parent. He also continues to stand beside you as you parent.

As you dwell on the previous statement, be encouraged. The God that created and sustains the universe is the same God that created your child and will sustain you as you parent.  You may be new to parenting and need some encouragement. Or, you may have years of experience, but you are going through a tough season.  In either case, here are a few scriptures to help you in your journey:

Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. ~ Joshua 1:9

The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? ~ Psalm 27:1

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. ~ Romans 15:13
