Honoring Jesus

Recently, we wrapped up the “Debt of Honor” series, and may I say … AMAZING! I’m currently doing a segment in my own group about honor.

The series started me thinking about Christ’s last days on Earth – the things he might have been thinking or wanting to do. He had so much to teach the disciples. Was he frantic like some of us are when we leave our children, pets, or homes entrusted to another?

I know how difficult it is to trust others to guard the small things. Imagine how Jesus felt as he entrusted his legacy to his disciples, a motley group including fishermen and a tax collector. They were tasked with laying the foundation for the rest of the Father’s kingdom.

Jesus honored those he mentored by the trust he imparted.

So how can we honor Jesus? As the Jeremy Camp song asks, “Would you take the place of this man”? No one can actually replace Jesus, but we are called to be his hands and feet … which eventually His had nails in them. Honor him by trusting him with both the big and the small.

Think about this thought as we remember his birthday through the Christmas season.
