What Do You Remember Most?

As another year is coming to a close and before the new one is brought in, I try to spend some time to reflect on the past. I have to admit, unfortunately, the first thing I think about is what I had hoped to accomplish but didn’t. However, when I really begin to “go back”, what stands out most are those defining moments. Defining moments for me are when there has been a change inside of me. Sometimes others may see the effects of those changes but oftentimes they are more of how God has changed my thinking or the way I process things.
Our family experienced one of the greatest miracles ever in our lives this past year with Maggie, our 14-yr. old, being seizure free for what is going on 10 months now! As great as that is, I recognize as well, what He has taught me through this experience. That’s one of the reasons that I journal. Life can become so busy and for me, if I don’t write it down, I am not going to remember it. So each day, I try to write of God’s faithfulness. However, most of the time, it is me crying out for something…But even in that, I see His goodness and how faithful He is.
As I reflect on 2011, I am overwhelmed by God’s forgiveness, patience, grace, mercy and most of all His love. He has loved me despite of me. He has reminded me that my worth in not in my role or my identity but my worth is in Christ alone. He has also reminded me to extend grace not only to others but to myself as well. He has taught me (over & over) to re-connect with Him and not try to lead in my own strength. So what do I remember most about 2011? I remember the difference Christ makes in me. What do you remember most about 2011?
