I am enjoying the ongoing NBA Finals. In organized basketball the referees play an essential role. One of their responsibilities is to call fouls. In our marriages we don’t have, nor should we have, referees. Rather, we should function more like pick-up basketball. In these playground games if a player commits a foul he will call the foul on himself.
In our marriages fouls (selfish behavior, curt replies, bad attitudes, etc.) happen. When they do, let’s do the right thing – call the foul on yourself. Apologize and make the needed repairs to the relationship.
Do you call fouls on yourself?
