What Do You Do When Your Faith Is Rattled?

Our family is very grateful that for the past 18-months, Maggie, our 15-year old, has not had a seizure and experienced two clean EEGs. However, a few days ago, we saw one. Immediately we began praying and asking God, was that real? Was that really what we saw? And over the past days we have seen more.  My first question, even as a Christ follower for 30+ years, was “Why God? Why would you take our little girls seizures away for a year and a half and then bring them back?”  I didn’t get a verbal answer but I sensed God’s immediate peace and presence. I went to the Word. I needed answers…I needed hope…

But I will keep on hoping for Your help. I will praise You more and more. -Psalm 71:14 (NLT)

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has not might He increases strength. –Is. 40:28-29 (ESV)

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. GREAT is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. – Lam. 3:3 (NLT)

I am reminded that even when my circumstances change, God doesn’t.  He doesn’t love me OR Maggie any less. HE IS FAITHFUL. In fact, when you walk through something like this God’s love seems so much more acute and my awareness of my need for Him and His love is so much greater. So when your faith is rattled, run to Him not away from Him. As I told Maggie last night as I tucked her into bed, “God will NEVER leave you or forsake you.”

I can understand.  Mine had gotten so much better.  In the last Month they have been worse and more unpredictable than they have been in years.  It is the thorn in my side.  I have to believe that His grace is all I need, even tho sometimes I need someone to remind me.

Lifting your sweet girl up in prayer! I appreciate you sharing your journey through this, it speaks to so many, myself being one of them. Our faith is rattled at one time or another and it’s amazing, how you spoke Life giving words into me through this post! We will continue to pray for Maggie, and your family.
