7 Words For Success

I’m a parent. Therefore I am always looking for quick, concise wisdom to pass on to my children.

I’d love to say that this is because I place a high value on wisdom and that I am so full of such elevated thinking that I struggle to find opportunities to share all the knowledge I’ve acquired over the years.

But, let’s be honest, the reality is that when I find my kids lacking wisdom in their decisions or obedience, the key word for me is concise.  Concise, not because I want it to be, but because I need it to be. Because I routinely find myself telling Emmy not to dip food or fingers in the toilet before eating them. Because I constantly have to remind Colt that the “secret door” in his underwear for going to the bathroom is not a topic of conversation for strangers at Wal-mart. (I apologize for the crudeness of the illustrations, but my kids are 2 and 4 years old, however I know similar things occur with parents of teenagers!)

Where was I? Of right, seven concise words for success.

As frustrating as it can be for parents to wade through their kids’ disobedience, I imagine that God’s frustration level with me hits crazy highs as well. That’s why In Luke 6:46 Jesus gives an illustration to help the disciples learn the value of obedience. To summarize this idea, I’ve whittled it down to seven words. This one sentence can revolutionize the way you communicate with your kids, and the way you interact with God. (full disclosure, I stole this phrase from Perry Noble at Newspring Church).   🙂

Seven Words For Success: “Listen To God. Do What He Says.”

That’s it. Seriously. Look at the Old Testament, New Testament, Gospels…even your life! When we listen to God and do what He says, our lives will remain in His will and we will experience life abundantly!

This attitude will provide us with a strong foundation built on trust in the Creator of the universe. And, ultimately, that is God’s goal…for us to have a lasting and interactive relationship with Him. Success.
