So it begins, it is that time of year when the world tells us that we need to look at ourselves and realize that we aren’t enough.  Each January we make resolutions to get thinner, look younger, get the body and look that will make us happy, others happy, men happy. We look at the decisions we have made and vow to be different this year, to make better decisions. We can’t get past the abuse, the abortion, the affair, the self hatred. Over and over again we look at ourselves and tell ourselves that we are not enough. The world tells us this over and over again and we believe it. I fell into this trap for more than 20 years. I would stand in front of the mirror and despise what I saw. I started from the head and worked my way down to the toes.  I promised that I was going to lose weight, exercise, try new makeup, new clothes, magic cream to make me look younger, better, thinner, be kinder, more thoughtful, less regretful, more forgiving of myself but, come March I was still empty inside. Nothing had really changed. Maybe I had lost weight, maybe I did everything I said I was going to do, but it was never enough and I stood in front of the mirror and looked at myself and nothing had changed. That voice still whispered…. You are not enough and I still believed it. My heart still cried out to be loved and that God sized hole was still there.

I know that I am not the only one who has struggled with this over the years or who is currently struggling. I have allowed and still allow the world to tell me that I am not enough. Does this sound like you? Are you struggling? Are you pretending? Are you crying out to be loved?  If you can answer yes to any of these questions then make plans now to attend the Loving the Women in the Mirror women’s retreat.

This weekend is for women with real hurts who need real answers. It is raw and honest. Author/Speaker, Jana Spicka’s piercing approach takes a long hard look at issues that plague women. Questions about beauty, worth, and how do we survive this over-sexed culture? And can good come from our broken hearts? Jana dares to ask: Is God good for women? If you’re ready for some Truth, come to this retreat. Instead of running on empty as you try to be perfect, or try to hide your sexual scars and eating disorders, or feel guilty over your broken faith, or just feel numb, come taste freedom in Jesus.
