Our message this week – O Come Let Us Adore Him – The Faithful Adore Him

1.  As we transition from the Thanksgiving holiday to the Christmas holiday we, as followers of Christ, should see and understand things differently than the world does. We should understand the present of as well as the presence of Christ.

  • Share when and how you started to view the Christmas season differently.
  • Share about any of your family traditions or activities that may have changed as your understanding of the present of Christ changed or has grown.

2.  Christmas is a time of sharing and a time of inviting. Who will you invite to Faith Promise to the Christmas production?

3.  The first verse of the song Oh Come All Ye Faithful mentions who comes – the “faithful”. Pastor shared that the faithful come to corporate worship, come to church.

  • In what ways is attending church, or corporate worship, important in the life of a Christian?

4.  People see Christ differently. Some see the Christ of the manger, some the Christ of the cross, some the Christ of the grave, and some simply do not see Christ at all. As His followers we see Him as our risen savior, triumphant over death. in the first verse of the song we  are using as a basis or launching point for our series we are told that the “faithful” come “joyful and triumphant”.

  • In what ways are we to be joyful and triumphant?
  • At times we can all allow our celebration to be dependent on our circumstances. As followers of Christ we should center our celebrations around or on Christ. What does this look like in the life of a believer? How do we walk this out in our daily lives?

5.  Often, if we are honest, we may find ourselves looking for the hand of God. In other words, we look for God to bless us and to provide for us according to our wishes and desires. In reality we serve a God who deserves so much more from us. We should seek to know Him more and should have a desire to seek His face.

  • How have you looked for God to provide for you?
  • Have you had periods of time or seasons during your walk when your expectation for and of Him took precedence over your desire to worship and celebrate Him?

6.  If we are to truly worship God and prepare to celebrate His birth we must understand what is hindering us, blocking us, or distracting us.

  • What circumstances in your life, or expectations of Him, might be hindering your celebration of His birth this Christmas?
