Women’s Bible Studies Begin
fpWomen’s Groups offers an opportunity for weekly spiritual growth in a relaxed setting and a safe environment. Join us on Wednesday mornings or Thursday nights to enjoy great teaching, discussion, prayer, and friendship. You don’t have to “do life” alone. Childcare is provided for the Wednesday and Thursday groups.
WEDNESDAYS – 10:00 a.m. (begins October 8)
Children of the Day – Is family life a challenge? Is work driving you crazy? Do you know that God has a purpose for your life, but can’t figure out what it is? Join Beth Moore on the Thessalonian shores as she walks you through the truth of each verse of 1 and 2 Thessalonians. In this study, you’ll face crises, afflictions, relationships, doubts, concerns, and fears. Find encouragement for living the Christian life now and hope for when Christ returns. Meets in Room 215 and is led by Kristin McLoughlin.
Undaunted by Christine Caine – This study offers life-transforming insights about how to overcome the challenges, wrong turns, and often painful circumstances we all experience. It also teaches us how to actually grow from those experiences and become equipped and empowered to help others. Using her own dramatic life story, Caine shows how God rescued her from a life where she was unnamed, unwanted, and unqualified. She tells how she overcame abuse, abandonment, fears, and other challenges to go on a mission of adventure, fueled by faith and filled with love and courage. Her personal stories inspire readers to hear their name called, just as Christine heard her own—“You are beloved. You are the hope. You are chosen”—to go into a dark and troubled world, knowing each of us possess all it takes to bring hope, create change, and live completely for Christ. Part inspirational tale, part manifesto to stir readers to lives of adventure, Undaunted shows the way with spiritual wisdom and insight. Meets in Room 209 and is led by Jennifer Dickson.
God’s Appointed Times—The 7 Feasts of Israel Then, Now, Future —Israel’s feasts are more than just a series of cultural observances. These feasts are appointed by the Lord, and are owned by the Lord. He calls them “my feasts,” the timing and sequence of each designed to reveal to us a special story. Together the feasts form God’s prophetic calendar, outlining the work of history’s most important person—Jesus, the Messiah. This DVD study covers the feasts’ historical background, tradition, modern day Jewish observances, their relevance to the New Testament and to us today, and their prophetic significance as we look to the future. Four of the feasts occur during spring or early summer and were fulfilled by Jesus during the actual celebration of the feasts. The last three occur during the fall within a brief 15-day period. The prophecies of the fall feasts have yet to be fulfilled. Susie Fillenworth, a “completed” Jew, will be joining Phyllis in leading this study. Rabbi H. Michael Weiner, of Shomair Yisrael Messianic Congregation, will be the special guest speaker at one of the sessions. “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of things that were to come, the reality, however, is found in Christ,” (Col. 2:16-17). Meets in Room 223 and is led by Phyllis Zuschneid.
Thursdays – 6:30 p.m. (begins October 9)
Cross Fit – What does a Christian Woman look like in today’s world? How do we embrace who God has created us to be in a world where we have lost our spiritual identity? How do women build spiritual muscle to be the Warrior Princess, a woman of virtue and integrity, we are called to be? Join us as we dig into what God’s Word says about being a woman who knows her identity in Christ. One who knows her head is crowned, her spiritual clothing is beyond compare, and her armor is vital. But most of all she knows her Creator designed her for a flawless purpose. Meets in the Satellite and is led by Jennifer Dickson. This class will end at 7:45 p.m.
Starting Point – Find Your Place in the Story —a journey of discovering the broad arch of God’s story and where you fit into the narrative. Whether you are new to the Christian faith, simply curious about it, or reexamining it after time away from church, you’ll appreciate the accepting, conversational, small group environment. Come as you are, be who you are, and build enriching connections with fellow travelers as you explore who God is and what Christianity is really about. Starting Point is a natural, enjoyable, and potentially life-changing experience. Each of the ten sessions consists of three important parts: First, selecting one of the five CDs that come with this Conversation Guide, you’ll listen to a teaching by Andy Stanley. Second, you’ll use this guidebook to help you reflect, and to journal your thoughts on how what you’re discovering connects with your life—with who you are, how you think, what you believe…with the things that matter most to you. Finally, in your weekly group meeting, you’ll have the opportunity to share your thoughts and experiences with fellow travelers in a supportive environment that is designed to enhance sharing and connection. From Creation across history and into the future—from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation—God’s story is a story of relationship, and your name is in it. Welcome to the journey of finding out how the story started, where it ends, and how God’s story and your story unite. Understand key truths of the Christian Faith – Meets in Room 223 and is led by Hope Sellars
He Speaks to Me: Preparing to hear from God – Do you want to develop a more intimate prayer life? Even more, do you want to hear from God in practical ways? Let Priscilla Shirer prepare you by giving you a deeper understanding of the Holy Spirit. This study is based on the life of Samuel, who first heard God’s voice while still a small boy, and is packed with practical examples from Priscilla’s own life. He Speaks to Me speaks directly to the need to develop a richer prayer life, to pursue a deeper and more intimate relationship with God, and to learn how to comfortably share their experience of God with others. Meets in Room 209 and is led by Rhonda Lyles.
Free Indeed by Robert Morris:
As Christians, did you know we can be demonically oppressed? Even though we’ve received salvation and complete restoration through Jesus, it’s possible for the enemy to have a stronghold in areas we leave open to him. In this new series, Free Indeed, Pastor Robert talks about the different kinds of doors we leave open to the enemy, how we can close them, and what it means to be truly free. Meets in Room 233 and is led by Sue Skytta.
Single Mom’s Group
The first book they will be studying is: Overwhelmed: The Life of a Single Mom. This book starts as a riveting autobiography that resonates with virtually every single mother, but quickly transitions into a 12-part study on every facet of the single parent journey, including parenting effectively, managing finances, securing emotional health, and much, much more. This book is currently being taught in churches around the world and is ideal for groups or individual study. This group is led by Tina Bright, Wanda Ringheimer, Diana Parker and meets in Room 217.
Divorce Care – Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they’ve ever faced. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you’ve never faced before, but you don’t have to go through this alone. Meets in Room 215 and is led by Linda Moore.
