Main Idea: The life of Jesus and the cross is God’s ultimate End Game for us.
Discussion Starter: We all have next steps we have to take. Whether it’s sharing the Gospel, checking out Next Steps, serving others, growing together in a group, or discipling someone, God has a plan and purpose that involves growing in our faith. What is your next step to being ALL iN?
Primary Scriptures: Philippians 2:3-4, Revelation 21:6-8, John 10:11
- Share of a story or a time a friend or family member sacrificed for you? How did it change your life?
- Read Philippians 2:3-4. Do you regularly put others before yourself? If not, what is one thing you can do this week to increase your humility?
- All things that end will find that end in God. Read Revelation 21:6-8 and discuss the reality of this Word and the comfort in it.
- Read John 10:11 Discuss as many things as you can think of that Jesus laid down or sacrificed for you.
Discovery Bible Method:
For deeper study, as an alternative to the questions above, read John 15:13 and use the Discovery Bible Method to explore the passage.
In the context of growing in groups, embracing others is growing closer to God and one another through a shared interest. Like the Avengers, your group is a team. And your team should be focused on growing closer to God and one another. How can you work towards that goal by sacrificing for one another and outdoing one another in honor? (John 15:13, Romans 12:10)
Just like the Avengers, we are not alone in our work. What groups or organizations do you or your group partner with to engage the world for the Kingdom of God? How can you plan to assemble in some way some time soon to serve people where you live, work, study, shop, and play?
Are you making disciples? David Platt said, “Making disciples of Jesus is the overflow of the delight of being a disciple of Jesus.” If you are NOT making disciples (sharing your faith + helping someone grow in their faith), is it possible you are not overflowing in the delight of being a disciple of Jesus? Mediate on Psalm 37:4.
